| Abstract: | A nanophase segregated layered phase (SmA) with alternating calamitic and discotic layers was observed for the first time in novel linked disc–rod oligomesogens, containing six cyanobiphenyl moieties radially-attached to a central tricycloquinazoline discotic heteroaromatic core via flexible alkyl spacers. |
