Abstract: The optical interferometric technique has been used to examine liquid crystalline surfaces. Topographs are given of stepped and faceted drops. Some new surface features of the smectic and cholesteric phases are also presented. The nematic phase gives fringe contours similar to those of the isotropic liquid.
