Abstract: It is shown theoretically that neutrons transmitted along the axis of a helical magnetic structure, such a Dy or Ho, undergo rotation of the direction of polarisation, proportional to the thickness. Calculations for a simplified model indicate values of order 300 deg/mm. This value is considerably enhanced near a magnetic Bragg reflection.
