Principles and spectral details of nmr spectroscopy of oriented molecules are discussed. Differences in the appearance and the information-content between the spectra in isotropic and anisotropic media are described. Applications and limitations of the technique to inorganic chemistry are critically examined. A review of the work done in the area of structural studies of inorganic and organometallic compounds is presented.en
