Although the potentialities of using pressure as a parameter while studying the properties of liquid crystals have been known a long time, detailed investigations in this direction are being taken up only during the last few years and a number of new and exciting phenomena have been discovered. The aim of this paper is to briefly review the progress in the experimental techniques and to present some of the more significant results that have emerged from these investigations.en
