Abstract: Available data on associations between pulsars and supernova remnants (SNR) are surveyed for possible conclusions that may be drawn. Pulsars have been detected in the Crab and Vela SNR. The pulsar in Vela is at the periphery of the nebula at the edge of the shell, whereas the shell energy may be derived from other neutron stars in Vela. Calculations of the pulsar birthrate are consistent with the current discovery rate and birthrate of SNRs. It is possible that all SN produce pulsars, some which never reach a detectable, active stage. Finally, the Crab Nebula is regarded as an atypical situation.
