Abstract: We report radio observations of quasi-periodic type III burst emission from the solar corona in close association with the 2B/X2.8 flare of December 11, 2001 at two frequencies (151.5 and 109 MHz). The measured mean period was ≈11.6 s. We attempted to infer the plasma parameters of the region where the electron beams responsible for the observed type III emission were accelerated/injected using our data, and the values are the following: the Alfvén speed (vA) = 873± 427 km s-1; the electron density (Ne) ≈ 3.09 × 109 cm-3; the magnetic field strength (B) = 22 ± 11 G.
