dc.description.abstractWe present electron density maps of the ripple phase of chiral and racemic dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine. The structures of the two systems are found to be identical within experimental errors, thus unambiguously showing that the chirality of the lipid molecules does not influence the structure of this phase.en
