Elasticity: Dr. C. V. Raman's theory

Abstract

In a lecture delivered to the Indian Academy of Sciences, Dr. C. V. Raman questioned the celebrated French mathematician Cauchy's theory about Elasticity. He expounded new ideas on the elastic stress and strain of solids which have emerged from investigations by him and his collaborators.
