Abstract

The proton NMR spectra of 2,6-dichlorophenol without 13C---H satellites are of the AB2 and AB2C types in N-(p′-ethoxybenzylidene)-p-n-butylaniline (EBBA) and in a ternary mixture of propyl, pentyl, and heptyl bicyclohexyl carbonitrile (ZLI-1167), respectively. The vibrationally corrected structure of the molecule is derived from the spectra including 13C---H satellites. The importance of the studies in a mixture of two solvents of opposite diamagnetic anisotropies at the critical point where two spectra of 2,6-dichlorophenol coexist, is pointed out.
