| dc.description.abstract | Polymerizable alkyl chain-derived naphthalene-substituted at the terminal of unsymmetric bent-shaped organic molecules were synthesized and characterized for their mesomeric property. The chemical structures and mesomeric properties were confirmed by spectroscopic techniques, including FTIR, NMR, and microelemental analysis, POM, and DSC. Of the three compounds, two compounds exhibited smectic mesomarphism and the remaining one did not. The mesophase type is confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies of the liquid-crystal state. | en_US |
