Onslaught of digitization on libraries has made library space a debatable area. Library space which was once considered as a boon has become a bane in the digital era. It is a challenge for the library administrators to handle this issue adhering to the objectives and goals of the institute to which they belong to and at the same time keep up the good tradition of library services intact. This paper discusses a similar situation in Raman Research Institute with respect to library physical space. Also throws light on variety of newer ways of visualizing the problem and how the physical space can be put to better use without losing the area of the premises to the external forcesen_US
