Abstract: IS0 9000 Quality Assurance Systems Standards are a set of clauses ' which are gaining importance in all the sectors. They act as a passport to enter the World Trade Market. Company's registration in conformity with IS0 9000 Standards provide world credibility to be in business at the international level. This article discusses the importance of IS0 9000 certification, its objectives and composition in detail. Further, the role of IS0 9000 certification in service industries. with special reference to Library and information Systems has been ascertained. This article provides a detailed guideline for implementing 20 clauses of IS0 90002 to Library and Information Systems. The advantages of implementing IS0 9000 systems standards are discussed
