| Abstract: | With the aid of an atomic model in which the electrons are regarded as a gas distributed in a spherical enclosure surrounding the nucleus, it is shown that the classical wave-principles lead directly to a quantitative theory of the Compton effect and an explanation of the known experimental facts in connection with it. |
